Chicago's ten most popular ZIP codes searched online by home buyers in 2002
Lincoln Park and Lakeview topped online real estate broker's list when eRealty announced Chicago's ten most popular ZIP codes searched by area home buyers on eRealty.com in 2002. They are:
- 60614 (Lincoln Park area)
- 60613 (Lakeview)
- 60657 (Graceland)
- 60005 (Arlington Heights)
- 60004 (Arlington Heights)
- 60610 (Fort Dearborn and Chestnut Street areas)
- 60622 (Wicker Park)
- 60067 (Inverness/Palatine)
- 60618 (Kedzie Grace)
- 60611 (Fort Dearborn and Ontario Street areas)
"The Lincoln Park area continues to be one of the premier places to live in Chicago," said Elio Buoni, market director for eRealty's Chicago office. "And, because of the high demand, many buyers get sticker shock when they realize what their Lincoln Park address will cost, so many look north or west of downtown. The area around Fort Dearborn and Ontario Street is a great, more affordable alternative for downtown-dwellers."
Buoni adds that the Arlington Heights, long considered one of the most in- demand suburbs in the area, has experienced an escalation in home prices pushing many value-seeking home buyers to look west. He predicts that Naperville, Plainfield, Algonquin and Lake in the Hills should get more home buyer interest in 2003 because values are still very reasonable in those areas.
The Ten Most Popular ZIP Codes Searched study is based upon the number of eRealty registered users who have saved a specific ZIP code within their home search criteria. According to the California Association of Realtors®, 41 percent of home buyers use the Internet as an information source in the real estate process.
